The capacitors are designed for lighting applications such asfluorescent lamps, high-pressure mercury vapor lamps, sodiumlamps, and metal halide lamps. The capacitors are used for powerfactor compensation of transformers and magnetic ballasts inlamps with a frequency of 50 or 60Hz, which makes the powerfactor to achieve cosφ≥0.9. The temperature on capacitor surface isadmitted to reach 105°C.
